Second credit card review! For those new to the blog, in 2023, I opened 6 credit cards and saved over $4000 on 6 trips through travel hacking this year (Pittsburg, Boston, Canada, North Carolina, Japan & Nigeria).
This card is part of the Chase Gauntlet. Here are some other cards in this gauntlet.
- Chase Sapphire Preferred/Reserve – I had a preferred card
- Chase United Explorer card
- Chase SouthWest Card – I had this one
- Chase Hyatt card – someday! I’ll open this one
- Chase Ink Business Card – someday! I’ll open this one
I had the Sapphire Preferred in the past and absolutely loved it but I downgraded it. You can read more about it in my post – Downgrading Chase Sapphire Preferred. I will reopen a Sapphire Preferred in a few years.
There are so many articles on the Chase cards and rules. My favorite article is from ChooseFI’s post – The Chase Gauntlet.
Back to the United card! You can use my referral link if you are interested in getting this card as well.
I really like United, although Delta is my number 1. But this United card is absolutely fantastic, especially if you patronize United.
Here are some perks as of 9/27/23:
- 2 free United Lounge passes per year – you can read more on my lounge experience in Free.99 lounge access.
- As of September 2023, the card offers 60,000 miles for $3000 spent within 90 days. I wrote a post on how I hit this $3000 for this United card.
- No foreign transaction fees
- $100 statement credit for TSA Pre-check or Global Entry
- 2 miles per $1 for United purchases
- 1 mile per $1 for all other purchases
Cons:
- $95 annual fee
Lowkey, I am thinking of downgrading or canceling this card sometime next year. Note that I only want to cancel because of the annual fee. I like the card a lot, especially for the free lounges but I’m mostly a Delta girlie.
