Today is the 1st anniversary of my first post on the blog. In my first post, I talked about being a Budgetosexual. I was referring to my obsession with following my budget in my quest for financial independence. I am grateful for all the support from the personal finance community I’ve met during this year.
A lot has happened since then, including my newest passion project, which is my podcast – ‘Making Me Proud.’ You can follow on Instagram @makingmeproudpod for updates. You can also find it on Spotify here. I started the podcast last week to figure out if I’m meeting the expectations of who I thought I’d be when I was younger. Ultimately, the question of each episode on different topics/aspects of my life is, ‘Am I making myself proud?’ In true GZFB fashion, I am also doing this because therapy is very expensive. Podcasting is definitely cheaper.
In the past year, I’ve grown so much. I almost want to hug my younger self and punch her at the same time. I started therapy. I’ve prioritized living for myself. I’ve taken on new hobbies – like dance, listening to podcasts and audiobooks, making my own podcast, and solo traveling. I’m also learning to stop taking myself too seriously.
With my new podcast, I will have to downsize the blog to one weekly Tuesday post and see how that works. I’m going to try to post my podcast episodes on Fridays.
Thank you for being a part of my journey, and here’s to more years as the Gen Z Fire Baby.
XOXO Gen Z Fire Baby
