Traveling the World for $free.99 (part 3)

Pittsburgh, PA here I come. Total flight was $910 but thanks to travel hacking I only paid $11.20. Here’s how:

In December 2022, I opened a SouthWest credit card that was offering 75,000 bonus miles after spending $3000 in the first 90 days. During the holidays, I spent about $2000 on groceries & holiday shopping on the card since my parents and brother were at my place. My mum reimbursed me as most of the money was for her shopping lol.

Anyway, the remaining $1000 was spent on my regular household expenses, bills and groceries in January & February.

I got the miles officially deposited in my Rapid Rewards (SouthWest loyalty program) account on March 10th, 2023. So 2023 trips so far: 3/4 successfully hacked. Yeah baby yeah. Also, why is a flight to Pittsburgh so expensive anyway??

  1. […] In terms of the financials – I spent an extra 18,000 miles to book an earlier returning flight on Sunday because a bitch had to work on Monday sadly. Also, I spent $250 on food, makeup and Ubers. This was my 3rd free.99 trip. This time I went using the points from my SouthWest travel card post. […]
