Pittsburgh trip review

My day begins at oh so crusty 2 o’clock in the morning. As I sat in the airport Uber listening to my Uber driver spit multiple sunflower seeds or tobacco into an empty bottle, I was excited for the weekend ahead of me.  I was finally going to the 2nd seminar for MLT.

My Uber driver got 1 star for that ride.

The last MLT conference made me really believe that Harvard would be lucky to have someone like me.  I met so many beautiful people- physically and on the inside. But let me emphasize PHYSICALLY. It has been years since I’ve been around 300 extremely sexy people. That’s crazy! My thirsty ass was so excited to breathe the same air.

I held my breath hoping SouthWest doesn’t pull the same shenanigans it did when I went for a work trip to Vegas in May. And fortunately, it was a rosy trip with a short delay in my connecting flight.

It was raining when I arrived at Pittsburg but I was excited that I made it here without any travel hitches. I sat to myself thinking, “make a conversation with everyone you come across at this conference.” “Push yourself out of the bubble and speak baby speak.” And speak I did baby.

I tried to talk to anyone on my breakfast or lunch tables. I also went to a social. A SOCIAL? ME? SOCIALIZING! I met some of the funniest people ever because of that. I met someone who is launching an app next month. I met someone who has a bunch of really good startup ideas and is building a business plan. These are my people. This is my crowd. I love this.

I also met a cute guy on the bus. I liked talking to him and I romanticized a future together (even though my therapist has told me to stop doing that). What can I say? I can’t control my brain. If you have tips for LinkedIn flirting, please let me know.

I was very proud of myself. I told everyone that I am a star because I want that to be part of my brand. Even if I don’t know what path of stardom is coming my way but I am a star regardless. Whether I live in middle of nowhere, CA or I don’t know a soul in the entertainment industry, I’m ready to be a star y’all.

In terms of the financials – I spent an extra 18,000 miles to book an earlier returning flight on Sunday because a bitch had to work on Monday sadly. Also, I spent $250 on food, makeup and Ubers. This was my 3rd free.99 trip. This time I went using the points from my SouthWest travel card post.

I did a lot better than the first seminar when I was spending money like a rich bitch. All in all, as I went home, I felt reenergized for this next phase of my career. I also got some advice that maybe I don’t need to wait till next year to quit my job. Once I am done with applications (and hopefully with an offer of admission), I can look for internships/part time job in the field that I want and go for them.

I still have a lease and a fear of not receiving any financial aid, but it is just a thought. Nothing will actually holding me back at the point.

XOXO Gen Z Fire Baby
