Let’s not be so serious

Two days ago, I decided to book a flight to Canada for next week on a whim. I miss my friends.

This is probably the most spontaneous I’ve ever been. I said fuck the budget. I don’t think I have enough vacation and the flight was expensive but I really said fuck it, let’s go. My personality has been fluctuating between super serious and seriously stupid recently. But I’m really just trying to do what feels right for me. Last year, I said 2023 was about living in the now (being present in the moment). 2024 is LIVE NOW – it’s just a more urgent version of last year in ALL CAPS.

For those here for the cash, I spent 52,000 American Airlines miles for departure + $400 on a United ticket for the return. If you’re curious about how I got those miles – read this post I wrote on AAdvantage Mastercard. I had initially planned to go to Mexico during the summer to celebrate with my MLT homies (MLT is one of the pre-MBA programs that helped me get full scholarship to 5 top b-schools). I realized that most of my friends from the program are not going to the Mexico trip so I promptly cancelled my flight. I’m like I’m not going to another country with people I don’t really know. Also, the registration fees were like $1300 and I was not ready to drop that cash.

Anyway, that cancelled trip made Canada feel more affordable. My two best friends will sponsor my portion of the hotel costs. Thank you Sugar Mummies. We will be in Toronto vibin. I’ll be gone for 4 days. I’ll keep you posted on how it goes.

But let me get deep real quick, I will never regret spending these 4 days with 2 of my favorite people in the world. I will regret working those days instead. I think I have 0.8 days of vacation left to use. Hoping my HR will let me round it up to 1 and I worked a Sunday last month so maybe I can use that day to cover one of the weekdays. OMG, I think I just figured it out. I have 1.8 days + the weekend. I should be good.

Hehehe
